Watch Out Old School Media
Recently, comedian Louis CK set about to turn the traditional comedy concert model on its ear. In doing so, he sent shivers down the spines of traditional media companies.

He wrote, performed, produced, directed and financed a concert in NYC’s historic Beacon Theatre. Subsequently, he then proceeded to sell the concert directly to consumers via download for $5 a pop (with no DRM protection I might add). The concert ticket sales helped finance the $170,000 needed for video production. After deducting production costs, website development ($32,000) and credit card fees, in less than a week he’s pocketed $200,000 in profit (on gross sales of of more than $500,000).
Now who’s laughing?
